Summertime musings…..
Haven't written anything for a while - not sure if it was a social media detox or just a combination of being generally aghast with the state of the world and not having anything particularly interesting to add to the various debates. Of course not having posted anything for ages means 'the algorithm' will bounce me
(Polite) words fail me.
I've not written anything since March. Not sure anything I could have said from my privileged middle class middle aged male white vantage point. But f*ck me the world has gone crazy. What a legacy my generation is gifting to those that follow. Trump, Netanyahu, Putin, Farridge, Starmer - just stop it now. These are troubled and troubling
(Im)Moral Ambition – the flaccid grip of inadequate men.
I've been holding off writing a blog about life inside my head and the world of work for weeks now - stultified by an ongoing sense of anger about the state of the world, helplessness in the same maelstrom and slightly concerned that anything I did say could be perceived as impolite. Then I read
January 22, 2026
Well we are only three weeks in and what on earth is going on….. I’ve found myself 462 times already saying ‘make it make sense’. Another week - another tale of misogyny and harassment dressed up as 'banter'. Tiresome. Hopefully his 'middle class women of a certain age' defence will spell the end of his career given the almost universal derision it was met with. I just find myself thinking 'how hard is it really to not be a
Assisted Dying – more light less heat
In my weekly blog this week I am going to focus entirely on Assisted Dying in light of the first debate on draft legislation this week. A rare chance for parliament to act freely and with compassion. In fact I am going to share my very good friend Helen's latest Substack Post. She speaks much
It’s winter then…..
That seemed to land all of a sudden. After a disappointing summer, the clocks going back and the temperature dropping almost overnight I've had to adjust my wardrobe. Seems like a chilly is all pervading. News that the government's internal review told them that removing the winter fuel allowance was likely to push 50-100k more people
